Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese healing technique, a therapeutic form of bodywork. Many types of Shiatsu exist, all employing a pressure technique akin to acupressure—indeed, the term "Shiatsu" translates as "finger pressure." Generally, Shiatsu treatments aim to stimulate the patient's energy system (meridian system) to activate the body's inherent healing capacity, thereby alleviating both physical and psychological symptoms.
At our school, we teach the Seiki Meridian Shiatsu method, developed by Sensei Tzvika Calisar. His approach emerged from the insight that Seiki—the intrinsic, primal energy spark within each individual—serves as the source of our healing power. We are capable of connecting with this pure energy because it forms the very basis of our existence. Every person holds Seiki, the spark of life, in their heart. This connection with Seiki enables us to perceive others and our relationship to the greater whole in a new and profound way.
The Seiki Meridian Shiatsu method is grounded in two complementary principles: Jin—the compassion and intention arising from the therapist's heart, and Yang—the precisely directed, continuous application of pressure. Through synchronizing the therapist's intent with the application of pressure, we awaken and amplify the patient's inner healing capacity.

Sensei Tzvika Calisar and his method
He began his studies in 1985 in Tokyo at the Namikoshi Shiatsu School and at Master Masunaga's Iokai Center, the home of Zen Shiatsu. From 1987 to 1990, he ran a Shiatsu practice in Kyoto, Japan. Over the following decade, he expanded his method through workshops and seminars across Europe, building a network of Shiatsu clinics and centers. Between 2001 and 2007, Sensei Calisar returned to Tokyo, where he led a Shiatsu school as the head instructor, teaching Japanese students and overseeing the development of the international Shiatsu curriculum and training program.
Master Calisar has published articles on Shiatsu and meridian diagnosis in Shiatsu and Oriental medicine journals worldwide. He has contributed to and translated several Shiatsu texts, earning a respected reputation as a Shiatsu therapist and educator in Japan. Concurrently, he has delivered lectures, led workshops, and provided treatments at international Shiatsu congresses and prominent schools of Shiatsu and Chinese medicine globally.
His ongoing interactions with patients, Shiatsu instructors, therapists, and students have provided a distinctive perspective that continues to inform his research. To this day, he has promoted his unique therapeutic and educational approach across many countries, including Japan, Israel, the United Kingdom, Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Switzerland, Russia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece, North Macedonia, Cyprus, India, Thailand, the United States, Canada, Argentina, and Chile.
